I was recently interviewed by the brilliant Corey deVos of Integral Life, the online home for integral theory — a philosophical framework that seeks to integrate different dimensions of human knowledge into a unified, inclusive model.
I found Faces of X through Integral Life, and I’m deeply impressed by how you model discourse that transcends today’s polarizations. My own mission focuses on promoting Socratic dialogue over the typical verbal-wrestling style debate, focused more on commenters and observers than the conversation and development of the relationship between the speakers. We are exploring how philosophical development — particularly through developmentalist frameworks, like Jean Gebser’s ever present origin — can help us form a community and culture that's capable of integrating the polarities that divide us. Our project is about not only laying the foundation for this type of dialogue to occur, but to form actual community around it (in both virtual, but more importantly in a physical, geographically connected community).
Your project mirrors much of the work we have been engaged in, which ties current ideological conflicts to the deeper currents of history and consciousness evolution. Like you, I believe synthesis is about honoring the truths on both sides, and creating something new from them. I'd love to explore how our efforts might complement each other as we work toward this more integrated, holistic future.
